According to new allegations from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a two-decade sentence for trafficking offenses, is allegedly readying a commutation application for consideration by the Trump administration.

Preferential Handling Claimed at Correctional Facility

House Democrats on the judicial oversight panel revealed that a source provided evidence indicating Maxwell is working on the clemency petition. They also stated she has been given preferential conditions at the federal prison camp in Texas.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the committee, declared in a official statement that the facility's chief was assisting the convict with copying, printing, and sending documents to aid her effort for executive mercy.

The exact content of the clemency request are unknown, the congressman noted.

Claimed Perks and Custom Arrangements

The representative claims that, according to the whistleblower, Maxwell has been given specially prepared food that are “personally delivered” to her living area, and the warden has “personally arranged” private meetings for her and her visitors.

The visits reportedly involve a “special cordoned-off area” for visitors and a variety of food and drinks for her guests.

Maxwell’s visitors were also allowed to bring computers, which the congressman characterized as an exceptional measure given the security risk and potential for unsupervised contact.

Reportedly on one occasion, when phone lines went down for other inmates, Maxwell was provided directions about instructing her contacts to call and how personnel would connect the communication to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The whistleblower further reportedly told congressional members that when the convict wanted to examine and modify papers promptly, she reportedly employed the warden as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The statement states that those writing to her would email documents directly to the supervisor, who would hand them over to the inmate, who would review and edit them and provide them back to the warden to scan and provide to the original sender.

Additional Privileges Reported

Other privileges reportedly provided to Maxwell include time to “play with” a trainee assistance dog – a perk not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as private after-hours access to the prison exercise area.

Maxwell’s attorney has not yet replied to a request for comment regarding the insider's allegations.

In a statement, the White House said that it “will not discuss” on potential clemency requests.

“As President Trump has stated, pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has considered,” the representative added.

Context and Developments

Over the weekend, reports surfaced that she told friends and family in emails from prison that she was “much happier” at the new prison than her former location.

This past summer, Maxwell was moved from a secure facility in Tallahassee, Florida to the less restrictive prison in Texas, where most inmates are incarcerated for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

This move, which authorities called as exceptional, occurred just days after she was questioned about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the deputy attorney general, Todd Blanche, who also previously served as Donald Trump's private attorney.

That interview came as the Trump administration was facing increasing scrutiny to disclose additional files related to the Epstein investigation and amid intense speculation around Trump's own personal ties to the fallen billionaire and convicted sex offender, who was found dead in a New York jail in that year while awaiting prosecution on sex-trafficking charges.

Lawmaker Reactions

In the news release, Raskin also revealed that he had dispatched a communication to the President, demanding answers about the whistleblower’s allegations, and urged the president to deny Maxwell’s commutation request.

“You should not grant any type of pardon to this adjudicated and remorseless sex offender,” the representative stated in the document. “Your Administration should not be providing her with room service, with puppies to play with, with government agents waiting on her every need, or with any preferential handling or institutional privilege at all.”

The congressman asked that Blanche appear for a public congressional hearing to address the disclosures and also posed three questions to Trump.

Raskin asked whether Trump had discussed a potential commutation for the convict with Blanche or others, whether he had instructed Blanche or anyone else to provide her with the transfer or favorable and preferential treatment in prison, and whether she, her lawyers, family or representatives have made any promises to the President or his attorneys.

Raskin has asked for a reply to the questions by the specified date.

Last month, the US supreme court declined to hear an appeal from Maxwell on her trafficking verdict.
